This July, I traveled to Colorado, and if you know me, you know I traveled in style!
No, I don’t mean I got an upgrade to business class before my flight (I wish!). I enjoyed the most delightful car services to and from the airport AND whilst I was in Colorado. Coolest part about these services? They’re both app-based and accessible from your phone! Read on, dearest chickadee …
For my transit to and from the airport, I got a chauffeured ride from Blacklane – a newish-to-Dallas sedan and limo service, and on the ground in Colorado, I enjoyed a rental from Silvercar. As I mentioned, you can call up either service either online, or using their respective app. Let me break down the glories of each for you …
If German-based Blacklane sounds familiar, then you might remember my mention of it from my epic spa trip to Arizona last year, where a stately black sedan picked me up and took me to DFW Airport. It was absolutely lovely, but, alas, only a one-way ride. This time, I used my complimentary credit to get both an airport drop-off and airport pickup. The service was fantastic and super-easy to use. Via the app or online, you just specify your address, time of pickup and what type of vehicle you’d like to pick you up – you can choose from sedans or vans. Then you enter a method of payment and BOOM, your reservation is set, and a professional driver will be at your doorstep to get you. In fact, the thing I love about Blacklane drivers IS their professionalism – they know what they’re doing and how to make you feel at ease. I absolutely loved the change of pace of arriving at the airport relaxed, with nary a care about where to park. Nothing beats sinking into a luxurious sedan seat and just thinking ahead to your travel plans.
Oh! And so I don’t make it sound like Blacklane ONLY does airport runs, I should say that you can use the service any old time, for most any occasion! From arriving to an event in jaw-dropping, gurrrl-look-at-her fashion, to a wedding reception getaway for bride and groom, I’d say the ways you could Blacklane all around town are endless.
[Disclosure: Blacklane and Silvercar provided me with complimentary rides and rentals. These opinions are mine, all mine!]
Just as Blacklane has modernized limo service with easy app and online access and registration, Silvercar has done the same for car rental. And it’s incredible.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand landing at my destination – especially at an airport I’m not familiar with – and traipsing around to find the rental car area. Sometimes it’s inside the airport. Sometimes it’s on airport property but a monorail ride away. Sometimes it’s a dang bus ride away! In any case, your trip is on hold till you find that car rental island, and whether it’s a business or leisure trip, that can feel like a hassle.
Enter Silvercar to alleviate a good deal of that woe. No more lines, no more waiting, no more mounds of paperwork just to get your keys. With Silvercar, you simply sign up online or download the easy-to-navigate app, select your airport, pickup date and time and return date and time, and check availability. Once your car is reserved, you can manage your reservation through the app. From there, you can expect a welcome text from Silvercar upon your flight’s landing and detailed directions for getting to your rental.
For me, the coolest part of the process, though, is that once you get to the Silvercar center (above), you just walk up to any of the identical cars and unlock your desired vehicle THROUGH YOUR PHONE by scanning a QR code on the windshield. Brills! And, all Silvercars are Audi A4 sedans outfitted with the latest in free wifi, free satellite radio and GPS/map technology … and a freakin’ sunroof! Perfect for my drive through the Vail Valley. The car was a dream to maneuver through the mountains, and I’m pretty sure I looked super-hot rolling in it, too. Talk about a Diva drive!
Once your fling with your Silvercar is through (sniff, sniff), you just drop it back off to the Silvercar center – no worrying about refilling the tank, as Silvercar will do that for you and charge it to your card on file, for a $5 fee. While Silvercar isn’t quite yet available in every airport, my Dallas and Dallas-bound chickadees can partake of the service at both DFW Airport and Love Field.
Ahhh, there is nothing like carefree transpo!
