It’s summer, y’all! That means it’s time to travel. Resorts are among my favorite getaways, because of the multitude of great things you can partake of without even leaving the property: spa visits, pool time, great dining and all manner of events and activities onsite and in surrounding areas. If you’re looking for all of the above a quick flight from Dallas, the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch in Colorado has got you covered!
[Disclosure: The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch and Ritz-Carlton Denver are providing me with complimentary stays. These views are my own.]
Denver is an easy hop from Dallas, which makes it a popular destination for wanderlusty chickadees looking to feel far away without a long haul. Though you fly into the Denver airport, Bachelor Gulch is about two hours west of that city, in the scenic Vail Valley, offering guests an even greater sense of getaway greatness. But what makes the Ritz-Carlton property worth the trip? The special summer programs!
Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch offers a number of incredibly fun activities and events for adventurous types, spa junkies, foodies and cocktail lovers. For those of you wanting to luxuriate in complete and utter relaxation, you can hit the spa, featuring not only gender-specific saunas and pools but a coed rock-lined grotto where you can join up with your honey and soak in the restorative vibes. And, of course, the spa offers a wealth of unforgettable spa treatments from soaks in a copper tub to facials and massage. Once you’re done hanging out there, pick a chaise longue at the pool and while away some more hours …
All summer, the pool offers daily poolside treats, including Evian misters and smoothie samples, among other delights.
If you’re more the adventurous type, Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch boasts a menu of daily hikes led by the property’s naturalist. You can either take a tame walk in the nearby hills or schedule an outdoor excursion under the stars, with a cocktail to toast your experience. And file this under “adventure” and “foodie,” but one program I’m jazzed about is the From the River to the Table, a new adventure where you’ll learn to fly fish and RC Bachelor Gulch’s resto, Buffalos, will prepare a fabulous fish dinner with your catch. Very cool! Other hike themes include afternoon walks with the property’s resident Bernese Mountain Dog, Belle; an art session out in nature; and geocaching.
And the foodie fun doesn’t stop there. Bachelor Gulch also has a Garden Cocktail Class, where a different herb is featured and guests learn to whip up delicious mixed beverages. I’ll take two of those! Too, another onsite resto, Spago’s will host a wine dinner series the first Thursday each month in August and September. You can also take hands-on pizza classes on Saturdays and Sundays at Spago and/or enjoy a Celebrity Farmer Dinner on Fridays at both Buffalos and Spago, highlighting fresh goods from area purveyors.
I’ll be taking part in some of these fabulous activities — I’m writing this from the Denver airport, ready to indulge in all of Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch’s this weekend! Follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (and at my sister site Swine & Swill‘s Instagram and Twitter!) to get the play-by-play from my experience there AND at the Ritz-Carlton Denver, which is also hosting me.
