Next week, Dallas’ own Erykah Badu is pulling the wraps off a brand-new, one-woman show, which is debuting here for a few nights before heading to London for a run. Badu’s show is titled, simply “Live Nudity,” which leaves much to the imagination, but the Grammy Award-winning singer opted not to fill in many blanks at a press conference on Friday; all I’ve learned — a little vaguely — is that the show is an onstage portrayal of Badu as an artist.
But I have to wonder if the performance — running from Oct. 29 through Oct. 31 at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters — is as risqué as the title makes it sound, considering Badu’s hopes for the show: “Art is a vessel that creates dialogue, and I hope it inspires the youth to move!” As for whether she’ll actually be nude: “Well, you have to come to the show and see,” Badu said.
Ticket pricing for the 8 p.m. shows is detailed in the flyer above. Come out and support a local musical luminary!
[Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets for Badu’s show. These opinions are mine.]
