If you’re anything like me, you have a hankerin’ for all things Big Easy OFTEN. Where, oh, where to go to sate that desire for the feel and festivity of New Orleans?
Anyone worth their beignet knows The Quarter in Uptown revels in … well, NOLA revelry — it’s their theme! Beads, wrought-iron decorative touches and a laissez-les-bons-temps-rouler vibe are all the norm at the McKinney Avenue haunt, and that vibe extends to cocktails. ‘Tis the season for The Quarter to bust out some new summer drinks, and as you can see from the above photo, it’s a colorful array of liquid lust, all either inspired by (VooDoo Queen, French Quarter Float) or outright borrowed from our fair Crescent City (Hurricane, Hand Grenade, Soco Sazerac).
And since our summers get steamy (though not nearly as clammy as the bayou-based weather in southeast Louisiana), The Quarter recently introduced Booze Pops, frozen treats that’ll give you more than brain freeze — expect a little buzz!
I’ve yet to sample one myself, but a gal pal had one about a month ago and absolutely raved. I’ll get my hands one one (or a couple??!) next week and will report back via Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram. Keep an eye out! And get thee to The Quarter for some summer cocktailing, especially if you can find a spot on the patio!
