You, my dearest chickadees, may have noticed that my editorial output this year has lagged from previous periods. You’re not going crazy — I have been occupied and dropped the ball on caring for my blog baby.
The reason? I’ve been working toward a big, huge, insanely happy-making goal that I’ve dreamed of for at least a decade. Having finally reached the goal, I have a grand announcement to make …
I’ve achieved the aforementioned dream — to live abroad — and to that end, one week ago I moved to South Korea to teach English for a year [insert screams of excitement here]!!
Now that we’re done dancing and yelling, you may wonder how this news will affect this very outlet you’re reading now. Well, thanks to a team I’ve christened the Divettes and Divos, I plan to continue publishing posts on amazing Dallas dining from the perspective of guest contributors who’ve been around the restaurant and bar block a few times. A few of their stories have already been posted, and I look forward to promoting more pieces in the near future, so I hope you’ll keep an eye on the blog as always!
Meantime, I really want an outlet for diving deep into my experience here in Korea: the food, the drinks, the culture, my fitness efforts, and even providing inspiration to other women to get out there and see the world, be it from within their own city or from another country. After all, I uprooted my whole life in Dallas (at a not-tender age, no less) to pursue this adventure of living abroad; I’ve been called brave and an inspiration, but all I’ve tried to do is follow the beat of my passion, and I’d love to be the nudge to others to always do the same.
So keep an eye out for a new online outlet from me that’ll not only comprise a blog and social media but also YouTube — I’m going to be a vlogger as well as a blogger! I’m excited to have a moving-pictures component to this grand adventure I’m on, and I’ll be sure to share sneak peeks here of both words and pictures from the new site so you can check them out for yourselves.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. I hope you’ll continue to follow Diva and also support my new endeavor with as much devotion as you’ve shown me these last six years. Here’s to the promise of an exciting future; I look forward to you staying on this ride with me!
