Sunday (fashion) Funday
If you’re looking for a little pre-Fashion’s Night Out fun, this event is right up your alley. Aussie hairstylist Richard Kavanagh is revealing six hot runway looks at the Zaza’s Art House Social Gallery that he’ll unleash at New York Fashion Week, which kicks off Friday. As an International Brand Ambassador for Redken, he’s sure to show off some stunning styles in this Look and Learn event that should be a fantastic learning opportunity for local stylists. Tickets are still available here, and the show goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. What a way to kick off Fashion’s Night Out week!

Fashion Week postmortem, video
Now that I’ve fully recovered from the Spring 2011 showings at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, you may be asking yourself, “Farah, what looks should we have stocked in our closet two seasons from now?! And, oh, my God — what foundation are you wearing?!”
Well, some of the trends I saw for le printemps included:
- Uber-feminine forms and flowy fabrics — less stricture and structure.
- Animal prints
- If designer Christian Siriano’s spring line (above) is any indication, volume, volume, volume!
- Soft suiting — I didn’t spot many stiff shoulder pads at all. Girly and loose was the trend
- In the shoe department, bright colors are the thing
- At the makeup counter, shimmery and dewy skin, with standout lipstick. With more on the trends, check out my chat with makeup artist Napoleon Perdis below …
ETA: Follow this here link if you’re not able to view the vid below! Sowwy for the inconvenience …
