The social season is in full swing in Dallas, and a big part of the party whirlwind is Fashion Group International’s annual fundraising and awards gala on Nov. 16. This year, the event’s theme is Night of Stars, and I’m pleased to announce I’ll be a tiny sparkle in the firmament! Your Diva is on the gala’s hosting committee, so I’m happy to get the word out about this fabulous event.
Fashion Group International is a nonprofit professional group whose members are in the apparel, accessories, beauty and home industries. FGI’s stated mission is “to be the pre-eminent authority on the business of fashion and design and to help its members become more effective in their careers.” If that sounds a tad stuffy, the Night of Stars will be anything but — mistress of ceremonies is noted beauty author Victoria Snee, and runway queen Jan Strimple‘s production company will handle the fashion presentations.
As mentioned, FGI’s annual shindig is more than a fundraiser, it’s also meant to honor local luminaries; this year’s honorees are as follows:
Career Achievement Awards
Sue Wade, Founder of Wade College, Honoree of Lifetime Achievement Award in Fashion Education
Lela Rose, Designer/President, Lela Rose Design, Honoree of Career Achievement in Fashion
Terri Provencal, Editor-in-Chief, PATRON Magazine, Honoree of Career Achievement in Media
Rising Stars Awards
Fashion Design: Nha Khanh Nguyen, Nha Khanh
Fine Art: Bret Slater
Interior Design: Beth Dotolo and Carolina Gentry of Pulp Design Studios
Accessories: Angela Scott, The Office of Angela Scott
Fine Art Photography: Alex Remington
Shelly Musselman Design Award
Cassandra Bumpous, UNT
